Following the wash out of the previous week, Dunmow looked to back up their opening weekend victory against newly promoted Kesgrave. However a combination of below par bowling and audacious batting saw the visitors secure, what in the end, was a comfortable victory.
The visitors won the toss and bowled Luke Swanston and Joe Gallant made a fluent start with boundaries in 5 of the first 6 overs. However S Colver was able to get one to go off the seam and bowl Gallant for 21 with the score at 34. What followed was a series of partnerships that kept the scoreboard ticking over without really a definite acceleration until the last 5 overs. The majority of batsmen made starts (Rooney 32, Swanston 39, George Gallant 33), but it was Paul Reid (67*) that was the pick of the batsmen and the driver behind the scoring of 42 in the last 5 overs to set a challenging total for the visitors.

The challenge facing the visitors was reinforced early in their reply when Matt Gibson claimed the wicket of D Colver with the final ball of the first over, trapping him LBW for 0. What followed set the tone for the rest of the reply, as runs flowed from the bats of Garnham (37), Budd (16), Young (29) and most crucially, Kendrick (92*) as Dunmow proved unable to exert any consistent pressure on the batsmen. While Gibson, bowling unchanged to finish with figures of 15-4-59-4 was able to tie down one end for periods, the same could not be said at the other and despite the game being in the balance when the fifth wicket fell at 145, the cavalier approach of Kendrick continued and the victory as completed in the 40th over.
