Stansted v Dunmow Cricket Club Under 12's on Wed 08 Jun 2016 at 5.30pm
Dunmow Cricket Club Won by 6 Wkts

Match report A comfortable win for our Under 12's in the Bardfield League at Stansted's lovely ground.

The home side won the toss and elected to bat on a rare very warm sunny evening and were soon in trouble losing two early wickets to Adam Sambles's first over with the score at 5.

After a brief recovery, Jet brought into the attack broke the resistance, bowling a wicket maiden and following up with another in his second over courtesy a catch from Sambles. In between Ollie Jones had bagged the 4th wicket and Stansted were 31-5 in the 8th over.

Gardener with some good hitting provided some resistance but when he needed to go on to give his side a chance of a competitive total he played a loose shot and was bowled by William Harrison, who then bowled Wilson first ball to leave him on a hat-trick.

The Stansted tail showed some fighting spirit before Harry Hall took a splendid caught and bowled and skipper Oscar a marvelous catch to give Alex a wicket in his only over and they finished on 68-9.

It was a really good performance in the field from Dunmow which included some great courage from Vibha who bravely returned to the field after a nasty blow on the head trying to catch a firmly hit shot on the boundary. She then bowled very well (0-6 in two overs) too.

As did Rosey who bowled three excellent accurate overs for only two runs and Oscar (0-6). The wickets went to Adam (2-5), Ollie J (1-11), Jet (2-10), William (2-8), Haryy (1-11) and Alex (1-4).

With a modest total to chase, it was an opportunity for some of those Dunmow batters who hadn't had much time in the middle to gain some experience and they each made a good contribution.

Harry (6) and Ben Clarke (10) got us off to a decent start at 32-2 from 7 and keeper Ben Gardner batting at 3 made his highest score with a very positive contribution of 19. Vibha (4) looked promising before unfortunately running herself out with the score on 55-4 from 14 overs.

Ollie Jones (8) and Jamie (13) both batted really well to steer Dunmow to the target score in the 17th over when they both retired not out and with the teams having agreed to play out the 20 overs it gave Jet (2 no) and Alex (10 no) an opportunity to see the innings to a close on 87-4.

Another really good team performance gave us a second consecutive Bardfield League win and a fifth victory on the bounce.

Thanks to Stansted for hosting us well and to Mark Rosewell for umpiring, Jo Peirson for warm up and Ben Letch for match assistance with the team.
