Match report A winning start for the Under 12's in the Bardfield League with a comfortable victory away at Stansted Hall & Elsenham.

Oscar won the toss and elected to field in overcast conditions and he (1-11 from 3 overs) and Daniel (1-5 from 2 overs) struck early to get Dunmow off to a good start as they reduced the home side to 12-2.

Backed up by some excellent bowling from Tom Scanlon (0-10 from 3) and Vibha Menon with 0-6 in her first competitive match for the club, Stansted had reached only 36 from the first half of their overs.

Oscar with a fabulous direct hit ended a useful third wicket partnership before Robinson (24 no) and a fine knock from Snelling (21) added an entertaining 56 before the latter was run out on the last ball of the innings by a second direct hit from skipper Oscar.

Harry Hall and Alfie Goddard bowled well in their first competitive matches for the club too.

The run chase began sedately and with an early blow losing Alex (3) in the 4th over. Jet (6) and Will (6) departed with the game still in the balance at 42-3 in the 10th over before it was turned swiftly in the visitors favour with Oscar and Rosey stepping on the gas with some really positive batting that saw them home just five overs later with five overs to spare.

They had added a blistering unbeaten 55 for the fourth wicket with Rosey retiring not out for the second match running (25) and Oscar with a quickfire 19 not out.

A much improved team fielding effort, some really good accurate bowling and a well timed run chase under the guidance of a fine man of the match performance from Oscar.
