This top of the table clash brought together two second team sides with records of two wins in two for the season. It was enough to have you seeing double!

DCC2s lost the toss and were put into bat, with a superb opening stand from Matt Cross (44) and Sam Bush (37) laying the foundations for another match-winning score. Ryan Johnson’s introduction at the 20 over mark then saw the run rate begin to mount – after a somewhat dubious start, the avid Braintree Town FC supporter refused to let his previous form haunt him, and looked at consummate ease at the crease as he made his way to 46 before allowing one through the gate. George Gallant seized the baton from Johnson, however, with an unbeaten 41 maintaining his dominant start to the campaign and taking Dunmow into tea on 212-7.

Gallant was handed the ball at the start of West Bergholt’s innings, and though the 90% shareholder of Domino’s went without a wicket, his tight lines allowed the returning Paul Reid Snr to clean up at the opposite end. Reid – or was that Jimmy? - produced a five-wicket haul in his nine over opening spell (9-44-5), all but ending Bergholt’s hopes of a shock run chase, before Martin Callingham (7-18-3) and Alex Rix (3.5-7-2) laid waste to the lower order. There was to be no repeat of last week’s tense finish, then, as Bergholt scraped through until the 25th over before losing their final wicket on 89, meaning Dunmow collected maximum points for the third week running!
